About Us

We are two brothers who come from a chiropractic family with chiropractic stories built on our Dad’s shoulders. Our father and mentor passed away this year and we want to carry on his purpose, passion, and love for helping families live more abundant and positive lives through chiropractic care and good vibes!

Our mission is to transform the health and well-being of children and families, from prenatal care through every stage of development up through the amazing moms and dads out there, by offering exceptional chiropractic care focused on neurological healing. We specialize in tough neurological cases, including things such as autism challenges, ADHD, anxiety, digestive/immune issues, sensory processing disorder, and more, but we also love helping the everyday kiddo and parent to thrive in life with proactive wellness care!

Through research, case studies, and the use of INSIGHT neurological scans, we strive to provide care that enhances and balances brain and body connection, allowing the body's healing capability to take over and give you the best chance to handle your everyday stressors with ease. Our practice is built on a foundation of integrity and love for all kiddos, pregnant moms, and families through individualized, patient-centered care, transparency, and giving hope and answers! My Story

I was born with severe asthma and immune challenges from the complications of birth trauma that led my parents down a path of trying to find answers. Medical doctors initially told my parents that I would not be active and would struggle forever!My uncle was starting chiropractic school at that time. He pushed my parents to get me checked out by a Pediatric Chiropractor at Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa, where I was born and raised and eventually went to Graduate school myself. They took me weekly to get adjusted, and many of the challenges I was facing at an early age started to clear up. My breathing, wheezing, sleeping, immune issues, and overall stress and worry for my parents lowered tremendously.

Growing up, I could play sports and be active with my friends because of Chiropractic, and I even went on to play college football, so you can say we beat the odds for sure!

BUT… growing up as a kid and as a young adult, I dealt with lots of gut issues, and I know now with my knowledge/expertise of the nervous system that I wasn’t taken all the way through the healing process fully. The number of chiropractic visits decreased when my symptoms started to go away, according to my parents, and my little body at the time needed more work with all the stress that had added up!

Your Family’s FULL HEALING POTENTIAL:My life looks completely different than what it would have been without the chiropractic care that I received, and I am forever grateful. Still, the lack of full healing led to me having lousy gut issues and emotional challenges as a kid. This is why I am so excited and grateful to practice in a Neurologically focused way to get you and your family to FULLY heal and thrive!

Faith, Family, Hobbies:I have my father, who passed away in 2024, to thank for the amazing life lessons, mentoring, and people skills that got me where I am today.

I am so excited to go into practice with my younger brother, Dr. Ben Slavens, whom all of you will love! His energy is contagious, and his ability to care and have so much fun with kids is truly a special gift!

My faith and family, playing and watching sports, my golden retriever, working out, eating healthy, and enjoying the beach/sun make me who I am!

My Story

Growing up in a chiropractic home, I experienced firsthand the profound impact that consistent, holistic care can have on a child’s development. My father, a dedicated chiropractor, instilled in me a deep appreciation for natural healing and the body’s innate ability to thrive when given the right support. His passion for helping others inspired me to follow in his footsteps and dedicate my career to pediatric and family chiropractic care.

As a baby, I was colicky due to my birth being extensive and ultimately traumatizing to my nervous system. With the help of consistent chiropractic care from my dad, I was able to relax and observe the world through a new lens with my newly functioning nervous system.

As a child, I was again subluxated, consequently developing a terrible ear infection. I went to the hospital, and the doctor only prescribed me antibiotics. My dad did not give me one antibiotic, but instead, he adjusted me twice on the first day and once per day for the remaining week. My ear infection subsequently disappeared due to my body's ability to heal itself by adjusting the interference in the nervous system. My dad scheduled another appointment with the medical doctor to tell him my story through chiropractic.

As I grew older, I was able to develop the skill of football by playing the Middle Linebacker position. With the help of getting adjusted at least twice a week, no tackle was too much. I was granted 1st team all-state in high school and became an NAIA All-American in college at Grand View University.

Now, alongside my brother, I am proud to bring that same passion and dedication to the families of Lakewood Ranch/Bradenton and the surrounding areas. At Slavens Family & Pediatric Chiropractic, we focus on providing gentle, effective care tailored to the unique needs of infants, children, and growing families. We aim to create a welcoming space where parents feel confident in their children’s health journey and where kids and families can experience the benefits of chiropractic care from an early age.

Our Dad

Our dad was the one who made our family one of a kind. The guy was himself 100% of the time and made everyone smile with his infectious upbeat personality and friendly heart. Our dad, Sam, passed away in June of 2024. He battled Colon Cancer for 3 years before joining heaven. The Doctor gave him months to live, but with the help of his sons through Chiropractic, while retaining his incredible outlook on life, he was able to continue to flourish with a “nothing can hurt me” attitude, knowing God had a plan for him. Although he couldn’t see us live oweut our dream, he got us to this point by mentoring us more than we could ever thank him for. We miss him every day and look forward to making him proud and continuing the miracles he served for.
